Review: A Delectable Cream Tea…

I was recently treated to a sumptuous cream tea hamper from the lovely people at Delimann, a quintessentially British deli shop based in ye olde Newton Abbot. I have always said that if the apocalypse came upon us, my last meal would be a plump cream tea. Divine!

Snuggled into a hamper filled with dry straw (wonderfully rustic), my cream tea was waiting for me when I arrived home one afternoon. It included Devonshire tea, strawberry jamfreshly baked sconessensationally clotted cream, crumbly fudgebiscuits and an entire fruit cake.

The scones were particularly delicious, and Delimann have them baked on the morning of dispatch so they are perfectly fresh. The jam and cream ooze together in a wonderful pink slub, and the tea is accompanied politely by biscuits, fudge and fruit cake. There is literally nothing not to like.

What better way to wallow away the afternoon than with sweet, Devonshire indulgences? I recommend this little package to anybody who prefers good food to good health, but do not waste it on those who count calories…

  1. How lovely! If it weren’t supper time here with hungry teenagers prowling about, I’d put the casserole in the fridge and have tea instead! It wouldn’t have all that wonderful Devonshire decadence, but I could make it look pretty like your pictures and pretend a little.
